Marquette overcame a seven-point deficit with less than two minutes to play to avoid the upset, as the Golden Eagles prevailed 59-58 over Davidson. Down seven and unable to hit shots all game, Marquette hit three 3-pointers in the final two minutes to pull within one. Vander Blue got a dribble-drive to go for the winning basket as the Golden Eagles avoided being the first 3-seed to be upset since Georgetown lost to Ohio in 2010.

After a poor shooting day, the Golden Eagles got clutch threes and miracle drive from Vander Blue.
The Golden Eagles shot just 34.5 percent on the day, but the late threes made up for it. Center Chris Otule had a double-double, notching 11 points and 11 rebounds. Marquette's only real advantage of the game was rebounding, grabbing 38 boards to Davidson's 23. Trent Lockett pulled 11 of those rebounds and added five points.
Forward Jake Cohen scored 20 for the Wildcats in the losing effort. De'Mon Brooks chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds, and blocked a pair of shots. The Wildcats also hit six threes, which Marquette was unable to equal until the final minute.
Marquette will play Butler, the No. 6 seed from the East region, in the Round of 32 on Saturday.
