NCAA Baseball scores 2013: N.C. State knocks off Florida State

N.C. State’s win over Florida State for control of the ACC’s Atlantic Division highlighted a relatively quiet slate of games Saturday.

Matt Ryerson-US PRESSWIRE

Saturday was a relatively quiet day in college baseball, with many of the favorites coming out on top of overmatched foes. The bout between No. 8 Florida State and No. 9 N.C. State was an exception.

The Wolfpack beat the Seminoles, 3-1, to take control of the ACC’s Atlantic Division, and Carlos Rodon became N.C. State’s career strikeout leader after fanning eight batters. He gave up nine hits and four walks, but spread them out well enough to hold Florida State to just one earned run in eight innings of work. Bryan Adametz provided the winning margin with a two-RBI, two-out single in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was his only hit of the game.

Here’s how the Top 10 fared:

No. 1 Vanderbilt - Played two gamed and won both, 11-3 and 5-3, over Kentucky.

No. 2 North Carolina - Beat Georgia Tech, 3-1
