DeMarco Murray left Sunday's game against New York Giants after suffering an apparent ankle injury on a 26-yard run. There's no word yet whether the running back may return. The Dallas Cowboys scored a touchdown on a pass to Terrence Williams before Murray had a chance to return to the game.
DeMarco Murray leaves game with apparent ankle injury
DeMarco Murray reeled off a 26-yard run, then limped off the field.
UPDATE: Murray appears to be okay. He grabbed his helmet as if he was ready to return to game on the Cowboys’ final drive of the half, but did not immediately enter the game. Murray returned in the second half, however, and took the Cowboys’ first handoff.
Murray has been the Cowboys’ workhorse this season. The carry was his 172nd of the season. He has been incredibly effective, with six straight games of more than 100 yards rushing to start the season, but he has been prone to injuries in the past. Whether Murray could hold up under a heavy workload has been major question throughout his career as a college and professional running back.
Murray was on his way to another big game before leaving. He had 13 carries for 73 yards nearing the end of the first half. If Murray is forced to sit, Julius Randle and Lance Dunbar will handle the rushing load behind perhaps the NFL’s best offensive line.
