We are entering the halfway mark of the fantasy football season, and by this point the contenders and pretenders in your leagues should be figured out. Only two teams are on bye in Week 8 -- the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants. With Colin Kaepernick and Eli Manning on the shelf -- as well as more quarterback drama in the nation's capital -- here's a look at five quarterbacks owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues who are worth a look.
Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 quarterbacks to target for Week 8
Need a replacement for Colin Kaepernick or Eli Manning this week? Here are some waiver options that could help out.

Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals (42 percent): Palmer continues to experience no setbacks from his shoulder nerve injury and appears 100 percent again. He had another efficient day in Week 7, throwing for 253 yards on 22-of-31 passing with a pair of touchdowns and an interception that was tipped by John Carlson. Palmer is a borderline QB1 the rest of the way and one of the best streaming options during the bye weeks. He gets the leaky Philadelphia Eagles defense in Week 8.
Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs (41 percent): As usual, Smith will never be a sexy fantasy pick week-by-week, but he's a quietly effective QB2 who can help out fantasy owners given the right matchups. Smith threw for 221 yards and a touchdown against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, avoiding turnovers for the fourth time in six games. He should keep up his effective ways against a St. Louis Rams defense that just gave up over 300 passing yards to Russell Wilson.
Robert Griffin III, Washington (30 percent): Washington isn't ruling him out for a return in Week 8, although it's far from a guarantee that he'll play. Either way, Washington needs him back more than it realized -- Jay Gruden finally gave up on Kirk Cousins, and Colt McCoy would otherwise get the start against the Dallas Cowboys. Griffin is still a speculative add at this point, but if you have a roster spot to spare then now is the time to scoop him back up while he's still available.
Austin Davis, St. Louis Rams (11 percent): Davis didn't light up the stat sheet against the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for just 152 yards on 21 passing attempts. He didn't have to, though -- the Rams used underneath routes to control the clock and take advantage of Seattle's injury-depleted defense. It's the same blueprint the Chargers used to beat the defending champions in Week 2. Davis has a tough matchup with the Chiefs next week, capping his upside as a mid-range QB2.
Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders (8 percent): Carr faced one of his toughest matchups yet in the Cardinals' defense, and the result was 173 yards on 16-of-28 passing with no touchdowns. However, the rookie avoided turnovers and continues to show some promise. The Raiders are still winless, but they're starting to look like a credible NFL team under interim coach Tony Sparano. Carr and the Raiders get a friendly matchup against a Cleveland Browns defense that just got shredded by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
