Pacquiao vs. Algieri odds: Pacquiao a comfortable favorite to beat undefeated Algieri

Manny Pacquiao is a fairly heavy favorite to outwork undefeated Chris Algieri, the odds showing that he’s expected to pick up a knockout.

When Manny Pacquiao steps into the ring tomorrow to face undefeated Chris Algieri, he’ll do it as a comfortable favorite at the betting window.

Algieri has the benefit of “being a winner;” in addition to having never lost as a professional boxer, he retired from kickboxing as a world champion at the age of 23 and was a champion wrestler in high school. That experience under fire in multiple sports is likely what allowed him to remain level headed against Ruslan Provodnikov, despite being a big underdog and getting knocked down twice in the first round. Algieri managed to work his way to a split decision victory in that fight to earn his shot at Pacquiao.

As for Pacquiao, he’s been on this stage for many years at this point and has fought bigger and more threatening opponents than Algieri. His track record is such that he has earned his spot as the favorite for this bout.

Pacquiao is currently a -700 favorite (risk $700 to win $100) to pick up the win while Algieri is a +450 underdog (risk $100 to win $450).

Here’s how the odds break down for potential results as of press time:

Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao wins by KO, TKO or DQ -185

Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao wins by Decision +170

Chris Algieri wins by KO, TKO or DQ +1400

Chris Algieri wins by Decision +1100

Draw +2500

The other “big fight” on the card shows that Vasyl Lomachenko is a laughably heavy favorite at -10000 (risk $10,000 to win $100) while Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo is a +1600 underdog (risk $100 to win $1,600). Those odss reflect that Lomachenko is a big favorite, but also that the sportsbook (in this case Bovada) doesn’t want any money coming in on Lomachenko, instead preferring to take the money of anyone choosing to take a flier on no-hoper Piriyapinyo.
