Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 wide receivers to target for Week 13

Rookie receivers are everywhere, but fantasy owners should have their eyes on other guys, too.

The rookie receivers were the talk of the fantasy town yet again Sunday. By now you’ve probably seen Odell Beckham Jr.‘s catch 100 times and you might have even seen him catch a ball in from of Bartman, catch a 50 Cent bad pitch or about 100 other Photoshopped versions.

It wasn't just him, though. His college teammate, Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry, caught two TDs in a loss to the Denver Broncos. Other rookies catching TDs include Minnesota Vikings receiver Charles Johnson and Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans. Of course, Evans is not available on the waiver wire.

It wasn’t just rookies, though. Here are a few others worthy of your attention on the waiver wire:

Justin Hunter, Tennessee Titans (owned in 40 percent of leagues) - If you play in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) like FanDuel and are on Twitter following some DFS people, you'll probably see a tweet per day about how Justin Hunter was going to have a big game. Well, it didn't happen earlier in the year and the Hunter tweets dipped. Finally, he's starting to come around and it has a lot to do with quarterback Zach Mettenberger taking over. Hunter was targeted a whopping 10 times and caught four of them for 64 yards and one score. He could be coming on as a high-upside guy. The Titans have an awesome schedule and Hunter could seriously be a top-20 receiver the rest of the way. He's a very strong grab.

Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins (owned in 20 percent of leagues) - He’s rolling. Landry has at least five catches in each of his last four games and Sunday was his biggest output, catching seven passes for 50 yards and two scores. He was targeted 11 times in the loss to the Denver Broncos and the upward trend suggests he’s not going away. If you’re in a PPR league, he’s basically a must-add player.

Charles Johnson, Minnesota Vikings (owned in 1 percent of leagues) - He had most of the practice week with the first team because the Vikings have a lot of receivers banged up. Still, he played more snaps than any other Vikings receiver with 66. That's more than Greg Jennings (61), Cordarrelle Patterson (32) and Jarius Wright (8). Johnson finished with three catches, 52 yards and one score. He looks like a legit pickup in 14-team leagues. Of course, his quarterback is going to hurt him.

Kenny Britt, St. Louis Rams (owned in 27 percent of leagues) - He was left for dead with the Tennessee Titans, but an injury to receiver Brian Quick has really opened up a chance for Britt right now. He had a big touchdown Sunday, but it was called back. Britt finished with just 37 yards on six targets. He was also targeted seven times in Week 11, catching four passes for 128 yards and one score. Britt is worth a look in all 12-team leagues and he would be better on a standard squad than a PPR one.

James Jones, Oakland Raiders (owned in 35 percent of leagues) - Well, he fell to the No. 3 spot on Week 11, but he was able to turn it around in Week 12. He caught a game-winning catch in the fourth quarter to put a bow on his five-catch, 47-yard day against the stingy Kansas City Chiefs defense. Personally, I wouldn't be very interested in grabbing Jones, but maybe he gets it going.
