Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 wide receivers to target for Week 16

It’s fantasy championship week. Which receivers on the wire could help you reach glory?

It’s Week 16 and the fantasy championships are finally here. All of the hard work you’ve put into your team since August will hopefully pay off with a title. Or maybe your draft plan fell apart, injuries wrecked your roster, “breakout” candidates didn’t break out and you were out of contention by November. Or you’re in one of those leagues that plays into Week 17, and your shot at glory rests on which backups on playoff contender teams will show up.

In any case, you’re either gunning for the prize or looking towards 2015. Here are some wide receivers owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues who could help towards either goal.

Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins (45 percent) -- Landry continued his quietly excellent rookie season against the New England Patriots, catching eight passes for 99 yards. His lack of touchdowns and yards makes him more of a PPR asset (just 9.5 yards per catch on the year), but Landry is a solid WR3 option against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.

Donte Moncrief, Indianapolis Colts (34 percent) -- Moncrief had a frustrating game in Week 15, getting zero catches while Andrew Luck and the rest of the Colts offense had an off-day. He's still getting more snaps than Hakeem Nicks and remains the firm No. 3 receiver, despite Nicks stealing a touchdown Sunday. With T.Y. Hilton nursing a hamstring injury and the Colts having clinched the division, Moncrief could get more reps as the team starts preparing for the playoffs. He'll be a boom-or-bust WR4 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Charles Johnson, Minnesota Vikings (32 percent) -- Johnson continues to prove himself as Teddy Bridgewater's No. 1 receiver, hauling in five catches for 72 yards against the Detroit Lions. The only problem with being the top receiver, though, is you normally draw the top cornerback, and Johnson will likely be matched up with Brent Grimes when the Vikings take on the Dolphins next week. Johnson is a great dynasty prospect, but in Week 16 he'll be a riskier WR3 than usual.

Marquess Wilson, Chicago Bears (29 percent) -- Brandon Marshall is done for the season, so Wilson will get the starting position opposite Alshon Jeffery. Wilson missed half of the season with a broken collarbone and hasn't had much of a chance to establish himself until now. The 6'4 wideout was seen as a potential steal in the 2013 NFL Draft and carries strong dynasty upside. You probably don't want to start him in 12-team leagues against the Lions this week, but Wilson should be on your radar in deeper formats.

Harry Douglas, Atlanta Falcons (26 percent) -- Douglas stepped up in a big way with Julio Jones out, racking up 10 catches for 131 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He doesn't get many opportunities to start, but Douglas almost always pays off for fantasy owners when he does. He will be a rock-solid WR3 play against the New Orleans Saints if Jones has to miss another week.
