Frank Gore rushed for 144 yards Sunday to go over 11,000 yards rushing for his career. If the 31-year-old running back wanted to end his 10-year career with the San Francisco 49ers, he picked a good way to go out. Whether he finally hangs up his cleats will depend on how the team replaces departing head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Frank Gore, Jim Harbaugh share heartfelt goodbye
Frank Gore said he would decide his future after the 49ers have decided on a replacement for Jim Harbaugh. Under Harbaugh, Gore was one of the best rushers in the NFL.

During his press conference following the 49ers' win over the Cardinals, Gore said that he will wait until a new staff is hired before making a decision about his future.
“I can still play this game,” Gore said, “and I want to be back here.”
After Sunday’s game, Harbaugh announced that he and the 49ers would “mutually part ways.” Gore spent four seasons with Harbaugh, who made the running back a focal point of his offense. Gore finished among the top 10 players in the NFL in rushing every season of the Harbaugh era. A late-season surged this year propelled him to No. 8 in the league in rushing.
In the locker room after the win, it was clear how much Gore meant to Harbaugh, and vice versa:
