Sochi 2014 speed skating schedule: Medal rounds on tap in both short and long track

Two gold medals will be handed out on Tuesday in speed skating, as the rest of the world tries to figure out the Netherlands. Here’s your schedule for the day.

SB Nation 2014 Winter Olympic Coverage

Speed skating continues on Tuesday with two medal events on both short and long track. The women’s 1000m event has a qualification round at 4:30 a.m. ET, while the 3000m relay final begins at 5:54 a.m. ET.

The Netherlands has had a brilliant run in speed skating this year, but China has been the big winners on the short track, taking the gold medal in both 500m and 1500m. Li Jianrou and Liu Qiuhong will hope to keep their streak going. American Emily Scott is looking to recover from her crash in the 1500m run.

Men’s 10000m is the only long track event on the schedule, and the Dutch are looking to keep up their dominant performance. The Netherlands has won a combined 16 medals in long track so far, and Sven Kramer will try to get another gold medal after winning the 5000m event. Patrick Meek and Emery Lehman are the only Americans competing, and neither is expected to end the United States’ disappointing run.

Here’s your complete schedule for the day (all times ET, medal events in italics):

Short track

4:30 a.m. - Women’s 1000m qualification

5:15 a.m. - Men’s 500 qualification

5:54 a.m. - Women’s 3000m relay final

Long track

8 a.m. - Men’s 10000m final
