The Canadian women took an early 3-0 lead on Great Britain through the first two ends of the match and never gave it up, adding an extra point in the tenth to secure the 6-4 victory and a chance at gold, where they’ll be facing Sweden. The Swedes will have their work cut out for them, too, as Canada has yet to lose a match at these Olympic Games.
But Sweden isn’t far behind. They’ve lost only twice through round-robin play, and they posted a come-from-behind victory over Switzerland on Wednesday. Down 5-4 after eight ends, the Swedes notched two points in the ninth and one point in the tenth to secure the 7-5 win.
The two teams met in tournament play, but it wasn’t close in Canada’s 9-3 win.
On the men’s side, Great Britain got two stones closest to the house in the tenth end to grab two points and a last-second 6-5 win over Sweden. And the Brits’ accuracy jumped to 88 percent in the match while the Swedes dropped to 78 percent, but they remained in it until the end despite that.
The Canadian men’s team put up a three-spot in the ninth and the Chinese actually conceded the tenth end to give Canada the 10-6 victory.
Final round begins at 3:30 ET on Thursday with bronze-medal game.
