Mayweather came out and landed some very big shots in the early part of round. It was the straight right hand and the simple left hook that were getting in and bothering Maidana.
Maidana then tried to push forward and succeeded in pushing Mayweather to the ropes, but Mayweather still was able to keep control, now starting to defend and find space for his counters in an area where he had not through the earlier rounds.
The two men also clinched a lot this round, Mayweather using it to get the fight back to the center of the ring, where he was able to get his right hand in.
Maidana pushed him to the ropes and did a little work, but this was a strong Mayweather round.
