Demaryius Thomas was ruled questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a neck injury in the third quarter. He took a helmet-to-helmet hit and had to be taken to the locker room. Fortunately for the Denver Broncos, he was upgraded to probable at the start of the fourth quarter and eventually returned to the game.
Demaryius Thomas ‘fine’ after neck injury vs. Vikings
The Broncos could be without perhaps their best offensive weapon as they try to hold off the Vikings in the second half.
In a press conference on Monday, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said that Thomas will be fine and that his neck was just a little sore after the hit.
Thomas had been playing well before he left, leading the Broncos with eight receptions for 78 yards. The team's next-leading pass catcher was Emmanuel Sanders, who had two catches for 51 yards. Only one other player, tight end Owen Daniels, had as many as two receptions at that point.
Thomas signed a five-year, $70 million extension with the Broncos this past July. He has made the most of his hefty contract for Denver, recording at least seven receptions in every game this season. In Week 2 he had 116 yards receiving against the Kansas City Chiefs. He followed that performance up with 92 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions last week.
