We have just two more weeks of bye teams before the fantasy football season hits the home stretch toward the playoffs. But before that exciting time of the season, there are still four more bye teams to contend with for Week 10.
Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 wide receivers to target for Week 10
We take a look at potential waiver wire options for wide receivers.
This week, the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers are all on bye. So stud receivers like Julio Jones and T.Y. Hilton aren’t available, along with mid-range contributors like Stevie Johnson, Donte Moncrief and Anquan Boldin.
The waiver wire should continue being a big part of your fantasy strategy as we approach a crucial part of the season. Here are some potential options at receiver owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Marvin Jones, Cincinnati Bengals (47 percent)
Jones continues to be one of the most boom-or-bust WR3s in fantasy. He had one of his “boom” games in Week 9, catching five passes for 78 yards against the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals get the Houston Texans on Monday night. The Texans have allowed the eighth-fewest passing yards per game but have been vulnerable to big plays. With A.J. Green still getting all the attention, Jones is a decent gamble at the flex spot.
Rueben Randle, New York Giants (39 percent)
Randle remains as inconsistent as ever, but at least he finally found the end zone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was his first touchdown since Week 4. Randle remains a low-ceiling WR3 in standard leagues, but his floor should be pretty decent against the New England Patriots, in a game where the Giants figure to be throwing the ball a ton to keep up.
Nate Washington, Houston Texans (26 percent)
We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop on Washington, but he’s been reasonably productive when healthy this year. In six games, Washington is averaging 4.3 catches, 68.5 yards and a touchdown every other game, which are fine numbers for a fantasy WR3. That’s about his expected upside when the Texans take on the Bengals, whose defense is 16th in passing yards per game.
Dorial Green-Beckham, Tennessee Titans (13 percent)
After weeks of talking up Green-Beckham and promising him a bigger role, it took a new head coach and an injured Kendall Wright for the Titans to finally follow through. Green-Beckham led the Titans with 10 targets in Week 9, turning them into five catches for 77 yards. The more encouraging sign? DGB played 48 snaps, second on the team behind Harry Douglas (59) and ahead of Justin Hunter (40).
Unless this was a one-week anomaly, it certainly looks like DGB has finally secured a spot in the offense. With Wright expected to miss another game, he has WR3 appeal, although the Carolina Panthers and cornerback Josh Norman will be an imposing matchup.
Wes Welker, St. Louis Rams (two percent)
Welker signed with the Rams on Monday. We’re not recommending you burn a priority wavier claim on a 34-year-old with a long concussion history, but Welker could find a decent role in the offense with Stedman Bailey suspended four games. Just don’t expect him to come close to his Patriots glory days.
