Injuries hit hard again this week with Ben Roethlisberger and Andrew Luck being knocked out of our lineups again. Big Ben has not been ruled out this week but common sense indicated he'll rest his injured foot. The Pittsburgh Steelers have their bye in Week 11, so hopefully the rest and treatment will return him to the lineup for Week 12. Landry Jones relieved Roethlisberger against the Oakland Raiders and will start in Week 10 against Cleveland.
Fantasy football rankings 2015: Quarterbacks, Week 10
Two main fantasy quarterbacks are injured again. Four teams are on bye this week. We explore what we can expect from them following their bye and reveal our Week 10 QB rankings.
Hopefully, the playing time Jones has had so far will prepare him to take full advantage of his many receiving weapons. Andrew Luck was beaten up by Denver and sustained an abdominal tear and a lacerated kidney. He'll miss two to six weeks but won't need surgery. Matt Hasselbeck will start, while Luck recovers. The Indianapolis Colts are on bye this week and then face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.
The other three teams on bye this week are the Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers. Matt Ryan has had an average years so far. Ryan has passed for two touchdowns in four of his nine games this season but never for more than two. He also hasn't passed for multiple touchdowns in consecutive games and has only score more than 20 points once. I don't think his season will take off in the second half, as they still face the Carolina Panthers twice and an improved Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 12.
Philip Rivers is having another great season. Without the offensive weapons that other quarterbacks have, he just racks up the fantasy points. Malcom Floyd may be done for the season, so he might be losing another trusted veteran. Hopefully, Rivers can just keep rolling with whoever he has catching passes. The 49ers' switch to Blaine Gabbert resulted in a win but not much for fantasy owners. He threw two touchdowns but less than 200 yards. Gabbert will face his first real test following the bye, when the 49ers travel to Seattle.
In other injury news, Teddy Bridgewater needs to clear the concussion protocol to be cleared to face the Oakland Raiders. Josh McCown is still day-to-day with a rib injury, so Johnny Manziel may get a second consecutive start. Lastly, Ryan Fitzpatrick may have thumb surgery sometime following the Jets game on Thursday. He would then have 10 days to recover before their next game in Week 11.
My sleeper this week is Kirk Cousins. He's at home facing the New Orleans Saints poor defense in Week 10. The Saints have given up 10 passing touchdowns over the last two games. My expectations are tempered but I believe he'll pass for multiple touchdowns and at least 280 yards. Washington needs a win here to keep their playoff hopes alive and their receivers all seem to be finally healthy. If you're in need of a bye or injury sub, Cousins is your man.
