In this current pass happy version of the NFL, we almost had a weird thing happen last week. If it wasn't for Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton, it would have been the first week in over fifteen seasons without a single quarterback throwing for at least 300 yards. Despite the lack of passing yardage, we still had an outstanding week for fantasy quarterbacks.
Fantasy football rankings, Week 12: Quarterbacks
All 32 fantasy quarterbacks are back in action. Here are our fantasy football quarterback rankings for Week 12.
Cam Newton and Jameis Winston passed for five touchdowns each and surprisingly the same amount of passing yards (246). Russell Wilson passed for three touchdowns, which was only his second game with multiple passing touchdowns this season. The aforementioned Palmer has now passed for 11 touchdowns over his last three games. With a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, he's a must-start this week.
We lost another quarterback this week, as Joe Flacco is gone for the season with a bad knee injury. Matt Schaub will start for Baltimore going forward. With injuries to their starting running back and star receiver, the Baltimore situation and Schaub would be best avoiding in fantasy.
Tyrod Taylor was injured near the end of the Monday night game. He clutched his shoulder before and after each throw but finished out the game. It looks like he'll play this week but make sure to keep an eye on his practice participation. Case Keenum is going through the concussion protocol. The team has announced that he'll start in Week 12, if he is healthy.
Peyton Manning will miss at least the next two weeks recovering from plantar fascia and his rib injury. Brock Osweiler will remain the starter and looked pretty good against the Chicago Bears. This week's game against the New England Patriots will really show us if he's the real deal or in need of more seasoning. Sam Bradford may not be ready to start this week because of his concussion. Mark Sanchez would start against Detroit on Thanksgiving. Lastly, Brian Hoyer will start in Week 12 after passing his concussion test.
In news that isn't really news, Cleveland remains very dysfunctional. A week after declaring Manziel the starter, Cleveland has changed its mind. It seems that Johnny Football partied too much during the bye week and threw away his second chance. Josh McCown will again start for the Cleveland Browns and he hasn't played that bad. If you're in need at the position, McCown wouldn't be the worst choice.
My sleeper for Week 12 is Brian Hoyer. He's facing the terrible New Orleans Saints defense at home. The Saints are giving up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. It's a no brainer. Before getting injured during Week 10's game prior to a bye, Hoyer had five straight multi-passing touchdown games. I think he'll start a new streak starting with this game.
