The tight end world is just a little different with Rob Gronkowski out of the picture. In Week 13, there were actually quite a few guys stepping up. There were 11 different tight ends with double-digit fantasy points in PPR leagues.
Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 tight ends to target for Week 14
Tight ends had a big week in Week 13. Here are five players worth a look in fantasy leagues.
Heading into Week 14, we probably won’t see Gronkowski, so his fantasy owners might need to make sure they’re prepared. Most owners heading into the playoffs should have their tight end situation figured out, but it never hurts to add a backup with some tight ends having a tough schedule coming up.
Richard Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (owned in 42 percent of leagues)
He caught the craziest TD of the year with a Hail Mary 61-yard catch to beat the Detroit Lions. Rodgers has seen a nice increase in snaps and he's also getting almost all the red-zone snaps for the Packers. The Pack still isn't quite hitting on all cylinders yet, but their collective arrow is pointing up.
He gets a good matchup against the Dallas Cowboys this week at home. After that, he also gets the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals. None of the receivers on Green Bay have really stepped up, so Rodgers could be viewed as a low-end TE1.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (owned in 36 percent of leagues)
He finally made his return to the lineup on Sunday, catching three passes for 31 yards against the Atlanta Falcons. It was his first game since Week 8 due to an injured shoulder.
He did play just 21 of the 71 snaps on Sunday, so that number should be increasing. The Bucs have been very careful on ASJ to this point, so his prospective owners may want to wait one more week before using him. That said, his matchup could be a fruitful one against the New Orleans Saints.
Ideally, there is some news on ASJ heading into Sunday. If reports say he’ll get most snaps, he could be a nice option this week.
Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions (owned in 24 percent of leagues)
He did reel in a TD in Week 13, but he was only targeted two times in the loss to the Green Bay Packers. Fantasy owners probably won't want to use Ebron this week against the St. Louis Rams, but it gets better after that with the New Orleans Saints in Week 15 and the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.
Crockett Gillmore, Baltimore Ravens (owned in 29 percent of leagues)
Will Tye, New York Giants (owned in 2 percent of leagues)
The Giants still don't have Larry Donnell back, so Tye should be the top tight end option. He is coming off his best game of his career, catching three passes for 70 yards against the New York Jets. Tye gets a road game against the Miami Dolphins, so he's really just a TE2 for this week.
