Maurkice Pouncey says Dolphins better off without ‘coward’ Mike Wallace

Mike and Maurkice Pouncey didn’t hold back when asked to discuss their former disgruntled teammate.

Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Mike Wallace's disappointing stint with the Miami Dolphins came to end last week when he and his big contract were traded alongside a seventh-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for a fifth-round pick. Brothers Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, both former teammates of Wallace, are happy to see the disgruntled wide receiver gone:

That’s Maurkice Pouncey launching the most pointed barbs against the disgruntled wide receiver.

“First of all in my opinion, he’s a coward,” Pouncey told CBS4 in Miami. “I never want a guy on my team like that, man, to walk out on your band of brothers.”

Mike agreed, saying the trade “was the right move for everybody.”

Wallace responded on Twitter, sticking up for his former teammates and saying that Maurkice’s comments were not directed at him.

Wallace played just two years of the five-year, $60 million contract he signed with the Dolphins after leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2013. During those two seasons, his production never matched his contract. He caught 73 passes for 930 yards and five touchdowns in 2013, and 67 passes for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014.

Wallace ended his career with the Dolphins by being benched in the final game of the season for arguing with coaches.
