The Nets knocked off Atlanta to make it 2-1 while the Bucks won at the buzzer to avoid a sweep. The Pelicans were the first team to be eliminated after Golden State won Game 4 to complete the sweep. The Grizzlies took a commanding 3-0 lead with a Game 3 win in Portland.
Conley to miss Game 4 after elbow to face

Steve Dykes/Getty ImagesAfter being evaluated in the locker room, Conley left the arena to head to a local medical facility for further evaluation, according to Rob Fischer. Conley’s left eye was reportedly swollen.
The incident occurred late in the third quarter when Conley took a swipe at the ball but got hit inadvertently by C.J. McCollum’s elbow. Conley immediately went down on the court and remained down while the play continued on the other end. He was then attended to by trainers at the next stoppage and was able to walk off the court. Conley held a towel up to his face as he headed to the locker room.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY SportsThe final score of the game, 92-90, misleads how much fun it was. Low scoring games can be ugly but this one was thrilling. The teams traded quick-paced defensive possessions on either side with blocks and shots that just barely lipped out.
For the most part, the NBA’s first-round series is playing out like expected. The games themselves may be losing their meaning, but the play on the court is doing anything but that.

Steve Dykes/Getty ImagesFive Grizzlies scored at least 13 points, including Marc Gasol’s 25. Memphis’ 62 first-half points was a franchise playoff record and gave the Grizzlies a 13-point lead headed into halftime. The Grizzlies squandered the lead down the stretch, however, as Portland made a desperate run to keep fighting in this series.

Golden State completes sweep of Pelicans

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsDown 21 headed into the fourth quarter, an immediate 9-0 run by the Pelicans was reminiscent of Game 3, in which Golden State roared back from 20 down to win in overtime. But New Orleans didn’t have that type of firepower. Coming back against the league’s best team, despite several desperate pushes to keep their season alive, just wasn’t happening Saturday night.
Here are three things we learned from the game.

3 things we learned from the Bucks’ dramatic win

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY SportsThe Milwaukee Bucks are still alive against the Chicago Bulls., thanks to incredible reaction time from Jason Kidd and an unbelievable last-second play that got Jerryd Bayless a layup with 1.3 seconds left. The Bucks win, 92-90, and cut Chicago’s series lead to 3-1.
The final sequence was set up thanks to an alert timeout by Kidd after Derrick Rose turned it over with the game tied. Because the timeout occurred immediately, Milwaukee was able to advance the ball and get 1.3 seconds to win the game. Milwaukee then ran decoy action to distract the Bulls as Bayless slipped behind Rose to the basket. Jared Dudley delivered the perfect lob pass and Bayless finished it.

Tom Lynn/Getty ImagesThe Milwaukee Bucks are still alive after being the pesky team that rendered the Bulls ineffective in the second half. Ultimately the final play came to the man Chicago didn’t expect: Jerryd Bayless.
The ENTIRE team thought Khris Middleton would get the ball in his hands. This left a clear path to the basket forcing the Bulls to try and shut the door on Milwaukee again. The reaction from Bulls fans says it all.

Taj Gibson woke up the second half of Bulls vs. Bucks with a thunderous dunk that left him hanging on the rim for an eternity. It was one heck of an exclamation point. This game has been more technical than flashy so far, but that’s okay as long as we’re given a few moments like this. Goodness.

Butler puts Bulls on his back with buzzer beater

Typically you’d see a statistic like 23 points in two quarters and assume it was from a volume shooter trying to do everything. This wasn’t the case from Butler. Yes, he’s doing it all, but he has been incredibly efficient as well. He’s shooting 8-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while adding another three rebounds and two assists.

Well that’s just rude.
Aaron Brooks was called for a Flagrant 1 for his shove, while Jerryd Bayless was assessed a technical foul for his shove back.

What we learned from Atlanta’s offensive collapse

Alex Goodlett/Getty ImagesThe Hawks’ offense, already struggling this postseason, hit a new low in this one. The Hawks shot just 36 percent from the field and a frigid 6-of-30 from three-point range. They missed open shots, failed to generate great ones and fumbled easy passes. Brooklyn certainly played well, but the Hawks did much more to lose this game than the Nets did to win it.
The Nets quickly took control in the opening minutes, scoring 10 of the game’s first 12 points. Atlanta made a run to get back into it, but the Nets went on a nine-point run to end the first quarter. They stifled Atlanta’s motion offense with size and physicality and generated good looks with sharp ball movement like this.

The Nets almost stole Game 2 against the Hawks, but the balanced attack of Atlanta was too much. Atlanta doesn’t look like the power it was in the middle of the season when it won 33 of 35 games. The Hawks are vulnerable but the Nets aren’t the team that’s going to beat them.
