Game 3 was heartbreaking for the Pelicans. After being up 20 points in the fourth quarter, they made mistake after mistake to finish regulation, and a miracle Stephen Curry three-pointer sent the game to overtime. The Warriors seized the opportunity to go ahead 3-0 for the series despite looking vulnerable, and they could finish the sweep with another road win in New Orleans. The series is all but over -- it's hard to see the Pelicans winning two games at Oracle Arena. Going out on a cheerier note in Anthony Davis' first playoff appearance, then, will be their primary motivation Saturday night.
Warriors vs. Pelicans, NBA playoffs 2015: Time, TV schedule and live stream for Game 4
The Pelicans will try to extend the series after a heartbreaking overtime loss in Game 3.
The Warriors know what they have to do to close the series: make it hard for Anthony Davis and let the Splash Brothers do their thing. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are combining for 57 points and almost nine made three-pointers per game in this series. When they are on, they can create a run on their own and put the game out of reach or erase big deficits. The Warriors' first-ranked defense has not been as dominant as it was in the regular season, but it might not need to be if the two star guards continue to carve up the Pelicans.
Davis has been fantastic for New Orleans in the first three games, but his team needs even more from him. Tyreke Evans is hurt, Omer Asik has been worse than usual on offense and Ryan Anderson exploded for 26 points on Thursday after sleepwalking through the first two games of the series. The Pelicans have relied on Davis' consistency and alternating good performances from shooting guard Eric Gordon and backup point guard Norris Cole to keep games close. Yet to really have a chance to extend the series, they'll need not only a monster performance by The Brow, but also for all of their rotation players to be at their best on the same night.
