Mayweather vs. Pacquiao MGM Grand arrivals: Time, schedule for fighter entrances

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are celebrating their arrivals in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Unfortunately, fans who are hoping to watch the fighters’ respective rallies online may be out of luck.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao has been billed as the fight of the century for good reason. Though it arguably should have occurred sooner, it certainly isn’t occurring too late. The two are arguably the best fighters of their generation. The bout is expected to smash boxing revenue records, and both boxers could take home more than $100 million even after a 60/40 split in favor of Mayweather.

A fight this big naturally invites a lot of fanfare. Hotels are mobbed and are now charging exorbitant room rates. Beginning Tuesday with arrival rallies for both fighters, Las Vegas will seemingly be subsumed by the fight. On Wednesday, the final press conference will take place. On Friday, the weigh-in will take place. The event quickly sold out its 10,000-ticket allotment at $10 a head with proceeds going to charity.

Suffice it to say, you probably won’t be getting a ticket for Saturday’s 9 p.m. ET fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

But first, the fighters have to get Vegas. Pacquiao tried to sneak into the city without fanfare, but ultimately relented. His rally began at 2 p.m. ET at Mandalay Bay, the boxer’s base of operations for the week. Pacquiao is staying at Mandalay Bay due to promoter Bob Arum’s ongoing feud with the MGM Grand.

Mayweather is expected to put on a bigger show at 6 p.m. at the setting of the fight, which will include appearances by rapper Doug E. Fresh, comedian Rick Smiley and the Southern University “Human Jukebox” marching band. Pacquiao’s lineup includes trainer Freddie Roach, promoter Bob Arum and Pacquiao’s Jack Russell Terrier “Pacman.”

Both events are free and open to the public. Unfortunately for fans not in Las Vegas, no live streams appear to be available at this time. Be sure to check out SB Nation’s combat sports blog Bloody Elbow for any updates.
