American Pharoah was quite unlucky in Wednesday’s post position draw, but he remains the favorite to win the 141st Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
Kentucky Derby odds 2015: American Pharoah is favored, but not by much
One way or another, Bob Baffert has great odds to win his fourth Kentucky Derby.

According to OddsShark.com, the Arkansas Derby winner is favored to win at 11/4 odds, despite starting out of the No. 18 gate. Only three horses since 1930 have won the Run for the Roses starting at, or outside the No. 18 gate: Gato Del Sol (1982), Big Brown (2008) and I'll Have Another (2012).
Trainer Bob Baffert, who could win his fourth Kentucky Derby, has the top two choices: American Pharoah and second choice Dortmund, currently just off the pace at 13/4 odds. Dortmund will start out of the No. 8 gate.
The odds then dip significantly, with third choice Carpe Diem coming in at 9/1. Materiality and MubTaaqhij both follow at 14/1.
