The Titans hung up on Marcus Mariota while telling him he’d been drafted

The official start of Marcus Mariota’s Tennessee Titans career was ... shaky.

Marcus Mariota is a Tennessee Titan! Nobody gave Tennessee an offer good enough to make them give up their No. 2 pick, and now they can build around the Heisman winner. It’s an exciting day for both Tennessee and for Mariota ... but it didn’t get off to the best start. According to NFL.com:

NFL Network’s Tiffany Blackmon spoke with Mariota, who said he had no indication that the Titans would draft him. He spoke with Whisenhunt and Webster on the phone ... but they initially hunt up on him by accident. Once connection was re-established, the Titans had their guy.

Here’s hoping Mariota’s Titans career isn’t one filled with broken connections and drops.
