Kentucky Derby day at Churchill Downs in Louisville is about a lot more than the two-minute race just before 6:30 in the evening. Yes, everything leads up to the Run for the Roses, but you’ll miss a lot if you tune in just in time to see the race.
Kentucky Derby schedule 2015: It’s a full day leading up to the big race
Don’t miss the day-long build to the most exciting two minutes in sports.
NBCSN begins its live coverage of the 2015 Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs at noon ET, at which point a handful of races will already have been run on the track. NBCSN’s live coverage will include its usual mix of human interest-style reporting and coverage of the undercard races.
Seven races will be run between noon and 5 p.m. -- NBC takes over the coverage at 4 -- and then the field will be set for the 11th race of the day, the 141st Kentucky Derby.
Two more races will be run at Churchill Downs after the Derby, but by then, NBC’s coverage will have long since been focused on the results of the big race and how a potential run at the first Triple Crown title since 1978 may unfold in the weeks to follow.
