There are 20 horses gearing up for one of the biggest sporting events in America and any one of them can come away victorious in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. The jockeys are preparing, mentally running through every inch of the track at Churchill Downs. Fans are showcasing their love of the history of the event with spectacular hats and sipping mint juleps.

The first race of the Triple Crown is slated for today.
All eyes are on the biggest names of the race -- American Pharoah, Dortmund and Carpe Diem -- and bets are being put down on which horse of the field will end up standing proudly draped in roses in the winner’s circle.
Post time for the Run for the Roses is 6:25 p.m. ET on NBC, and the favorite to be the champion after the best two minutes in sports is American Pharoah with 13/5 odds, while Carpe Diem comes in with 8/1 odds and Dortmund is at 15/4, according to OddsShark.com.
