Mayweather vs. Berto 2015 live results: Floyd Mayweather starts off well in Round 1

Andre Berto comes out flicking a jab in the center of the ring, Floyd Mayweather springs forward with a left hook. Jab to the body from Mayweather, and then another. Berto shoots a right, it’s short, Floyd’s response in kind is blocked. Mayweather working his left hand, hook and jab, very prominently in the first minute of the fight. Another jab to the body, a signature Mayweather weapon.

Berto short on everything he flicks out thus far. Berto with a very slow start, looking pretty tight as he bounces at mid-ring. They clinch up when Mayweather gets close, Berto initiating. Mayweather kind of in the pocket, Berto not getting off, though.

Final minute of the round. Mayweather pawing with his left hand, then they tie up and Floyd throws potshots to the body. Referee Kenny Bayless breaks them up. Lead hook from Mayweather lands and gets a rise from the crowd, which thus far has been fairly quiet, an appropriate response to what we’ve seen. Berto kind of chasing, but not with any serious intent, it seems. Berto shoots a right hand, misses again. They tie up once more when Mayweather comes forward and misses.
