Just as you would have expected, Crockett Gilmore, Anthony Fasano, Eric Ebron and Richard Rodgers helped round out the Top 10 in fantasy points scored among tight ends on Sunday. Rob Gronkowski (113 yards, one touchdown) found success yet again against the Buffalo Bills, but Week 2 was further proof that you can actually get by if your starting tight end continues to lack production or simply goes down.
Fantasy football rankings, Week 3: Tight ends
Crockett Gilmore was the latest tight end to come out of nowhere and join the list of those worthy of being picked up. Who will join that list this week? Our Week 3 fantasy football tight end rankings attempt to figure it out.
That’s great news, considering you probably have to this week.
Jason Witten is currently receiving treatment for two sprained ankles and a sprained knee he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday afternoon. If it were you and I, we would probably just sit this one out and eat potato chips or something. But Witten should be considered questionable at best heading into his Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins is reportedly out 4-6 weeks, meaning that waiver claim you burned on him following Week 1 was basically rendered useless. With Mike Evans back in the lineup last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting tight end received only three targets, finishing with a minuscule 29 yards.
Delanie Walker is also questionable for the Tennessee Titans heading into the weekend. If he suits up, Walker makes for a sneaky start. The Indianapolis Colts have admittedly been stout against the tight end this season (allowing an average of only two points per game to the position), but they’ve also faced Charles Clay and Jeff Cumberland. With Vontae Davis potentially shadowing Kendall Wright, Walker would most likely receive a majority of targets. Which is great, because you’re going to need that.
