Now that NFL teams are hitting their bye weeks, Blaine Gabbert could become a worthy fantasy football starter. However, that will not happen when the San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.

Blaine Gabbert has been largely ineffective as the 49ers’ starting QB this year.

Even in Chip Kelly’s quarterback-friendly offense, Gabbert only ranks 29th in fantasy points per game among QBs. He now is facing a Cardinals defense allowing the 11th-fewest points to quarterbacks this season.
Arizona has also allowed just four passing scores this season, which is tied for the seventh-fewest of any team. Gabbert has only thrown for four scores in four games this season.
All of this serves as a clear sign to not play Gabbert this week.
Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! ranks Gabbert as the 29th-best quarterback in Week 5. He is not someone you should be starting outside of super-deep leagues where your starter is on a bye this week. You probably should not even bother to have him on your roster.
