The Carolina Panthers will likely not have Cam Newton on Monday Night Football. Newton did not practice Friday and is expected to be out in Week 5 due to a concussion, according to Charlotte Observer reporter Joseph Person.
Cam Newton still missing practice, doubtful for fantasy owners
Carolina will likely be without Cam Newton when Tampa Bay comes to town.

Newton suffered a concussion in Carolina’s Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Even with an extra day of rest with this Week 5 game being on Monday, it looks like Newton will not clear the NFL’s concussion protocol in time.
That means Carolina will likely start Derek Anderson vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact: Newton is already in the midst of a lackluster season after winning the NFL MVP award last year. He still is the fifth-leading fantasy scorer among quarterbacks through four weeks, but has accounted for just eight scores vs. six turnovers.
If Newton misses this week, keep him benched and look for an adequate replacement in the meantime. Anderson may be a worthy starter in deeper leagues where quarterbacks are hard to come by.
