Top daily fantasy football tight end plays for Week 10

With Week 10 of the NFL season upon us, we take a look at some of the best tight end values to be found on FanDuel and some players worth fading.

Welcome to Week 10 of the Daily Fantasy season. Pricing has stabilized as trends have emerged, but there are still bargains to be found and even some higher-priced options that will go under-owned and can make a difference in your lineups. This article looks at some of the projected lesser-owned plays at tight end who could provide huge boosts to your tournament lineups, as well as some trap plays to avoid.

PLAY

Lance Kendricks $4,500 (Los Angeles Rams at New York Jets)

Kendricks is getting no love in DFS. All the man has been doing the last three weeks is soaking up targets and scoring fantasy points. Yet his price remains rock bottom. Kendricks had seven receptions for the second game in a row last Sunday and has seen 29 targets over his past three games. His past three FanDuel totals are 11.9, 9.0 and a season-high 12.5 last week. Add in the fact that the Jets are actually pretty lousy at defending the pass and all signs point to another big day at no cost. Jump on this guy before his price finally skyrockets and everyone starts using him.

Antonio Gates $5,700 (San Diego Chargers vs. Miami Dolphins)

The ageless wonder struck again last week. Gates should be getting MVP consideration, as his renaissance is coinciding with the Chargers’ best stretch of the season. Gates caught a touchdown for the second straight week last Sunday and has 28 targets over his past three games (10, 9, 9). With injuries to their wide receivers, the 36-year-old Gates is back to being Philip Rivers’ most trusted pass-catcher. That should continue this week in another must-win game for San Diego. Gates appears up for the challenge.

Jason Witten $5,400 (Dallas Cowboys at Pittsburgh Steelers)

Witten paid a visit to the way-back machine last Sunday in Cleveland and turned in his finest performance of the season. He caught eight passes for 134 yards, both his best outputs since Week 1. He also scored a touchdown for the second straight week. Is it a trend? The Steelers are not a strong pass defense. While most DFS players will roll with Dez Bryant, Witten could be the sneaky offensive play for Dallas.

Zach Ertz $4,600 (Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons)

Well, where did that come from? Ertz has been the biggest tight end bust of the season in Daily Fantasy, but he sure broke out last week against the Giants, catching all eight targets for 97 yards. It was his first double-digit fantasy output of the season, but probably wasn’t his last. The Falcons have been giving up oodles of fantasy production to opposing passing attacks. Ertz is still near-minimum price and it might take at least one more big game to bring back his ownership levels. Chances are good that one more big game is this Sunday.

Austin Hooper $4,500 (Falcons at Eagles)

Hooper is making the most of his opportunity since Jacob Tamme went down with a shoulder injury. We saw it in San Diego when rookie Hunter Henry admirably filled in for Gates. Now it’s Atlanta’s rookie making a name for himself, catching three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown last week. Matt Ryan has no problem targeting the rookie, making him a nice, low-priced and low-owned option in a potentially high-scoring affair.

NAY

Julius Thomas $5,500 (Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans)

The Titans do a pretty solid job defending the position and there are far too many better options that cost $1,000 less.

Vance McDonald $4,800 (San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals)

McDonald rode one big play to his best fantasy output of the season last week. That was against the defensive-challenged Saints at home. This week he faces the dangerous Arizona defense on the road. Fade away.
