The eleventh week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire quarterback rankings, Week 12
1. Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles (32 percent owned)
The rookie quarterback was tasked with overcoming Seattle’s strong secondary in his Week 11 matchup. Wentz passed for 218 yards, two scores, and two interceptions in the Eagles’ loss to the Seahawks. The Philadelphia quarterback has a great opportunity to bounce back next week against a Packers’ secondary that has been riddled with injuries and struggled in recent weeks.
2. Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs (27 percent owned)
Smith posted his best performance since Week 1, but still struggled to make big plays in Week 11. The Chiefs quarterback passed for 261 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and added 10 yards and a score on the ground in Kansas City’s loss to Tampa Bay. Smith has struggled as of late, but should get Jeremy Maclin back next week. That should provide Smith with some support in the matchup against Denver in Week 12.
3. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (26 percent owned)
Flacco isn’t the most exciting start, but his experience and the talent that surrounds him continue to make him an intriguing fantasy option. The Ravens quarterback threw for 269 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore’s loss to Dallas. The Cowboys were able to control the game from the start, and Flacco was unable to capitalize on his opportunities. Look for him to bounce back next week against Cincinnati.
4. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins (24 percent owned)
Tannehill looked good en route to a late comeback win against the Rams in Week 11. The Dolphins quarterback threw for 172 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also added 19 yards on the ground. This win should give Tannehill more confidence, and he can build on this performance next week against a poor 49ers’ defense.
5. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers (18 percent owned)
San Francisco kept the game close against New England for the first half, but Kaepernick was unable to generate much offense in the second half of the game. The 49ers quarterback passed for 206 yards, two touchdowns, and added 32 additional yards on the ground in San Francisco’s loss to New England. Kaepernick has looked sharp for multiple drives each game, and continues to produce fantasy value through his legs. Despite his second half struggles, he has been a top-ten fantasy quarterback the past three weeks, and should continue that production against the Dolphins in Week 12.
