10 games into the 2016 NFL season, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is having himself a career year. Ryan is on pace to set new single-season career highs for passing yards, touchdowns, and quarterback rating by the end of the year.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 12: Matt Ryan could be in for a struggling day
Atlanta’s quarterback has been great this season, but he faces a tough Cardinals defense on Sunday. We explore the fantasy implications.

During his last five games, Ryan has averaged 301 passing yards per game while throwing for 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions. If it were not for the Falcons’ 6-4 record, the quarterback would be a legitimate NFL MVP candidate this season.
Fantasy Impact: Despite his impressive year, Ryan could still have a tough time on Sunday when he and the Falcons face off against a ferocious Arizona Cardinals defense.
In 2016, the Cardinals are giving up the third fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The position group has only managed to throw for a total of two touchdowns during Arizona’s last five games.
Even though his matchup for this weekend seems to be on the tougher side of the spectrum, Yahoo! is still projecting Ryan to throw for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception on Sunday. Many fantasy owners will likely still opt to start the quarterback this week, but they should not be surprised if he ends up having an off day against the Cardinals.
