The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that quarterback Alex Smith will miss the team’s Week 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a concussion. With the news, backup quarterback Nick Foles will be making his first NFL start since Week 13 of last season.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 9: Nick Foles could be a solid option
The Chiefs backup quarterback will get his first start of the season on Sunday. We explore the fantasy implications.

Due to Smith being injured, Foles played a bunch last week during the Chiefs’ 30-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Kansas City’s backup signal caller finished the day completing more than 70 percent of his passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: In Week 9, Foles and the Chiefs will be facing the 2-5 Jacksonville Jaguars. A number of quarterbacks have had impressive games against the Jaguars in 2016, so Foles should have a pretty good chance of ending the day with some nice numbers.
Jacksonville is in the middle of the pack when it comes to giving up fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season (14th most). But they have allowed the position group to score 13 total touchdowns while only throwing a total of three interceptions this year.
Yahoo! is projecting Foles to finish Sunday with 230 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Due to a good amount of teams having a bye this week, the Kansas City backup could be a decent option for fantasy owners in need of some quarterback help on Sunday.
