The ninth week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Wide receiver rankings for Week 10
The waiver wire begins late Tuesday, so it is time to figure out your best options. We’ve got rankings for all four major positions: QB | RB | WR | TE | DST
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire wide receiver rankings, Week 10
1. Steve Smith Sr., Baltimore Ravens (50 percent owned)
The Baltimore Ravens have been without one of their top receiving targets in Smith Sr. for the past three weeks, however he made his return in Week 9. The Ravens receiver caught four passes for 47 yards, and added a two point conversion in Baltimore’s win over Pittsburgh. Many owners dropped Smith Sr. despite his injury not being overly serious. While he’ll take a little longer to heal being 37 years old, his ankle should continue to recover, and the Ravens have an excellent match up against the Browns in Week 10.
2. Rishard Matthews, Tennessee Titans (29 percent owned)
Matthews has now scored in three of his past four games, and continues to be used in the passing game of an offense that has mostly leaned on it’s running game thus far this season. The Titans receiver caught six passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns in Tennessee’s loss to the Chargers. Matthews looks to continue his pattern of production as the Titans should pass more next week as they face a strong Green Bay run defense, coupled with it’s exploitable secondary in Week 10.
3. Dontrelle Inman, San Diego Chargers (four percent owned)
There is no doubt that San Diego’s high-powered passing offense is capable of generating great fantasy production. However, the production of individual receivers in San Diego has been difficult to predict. With the injury to Travis Benjamin’s knee Inman should receive more of Philip River’s attention, boding well for his fantasy value. In Week 9, the San Diego receiver caught six passes for 56 yards in the Chargers victory over the Titans. Look for Inman to increase his production next week as San Diego plays Miami.
4. Marqise Lee, Jacksonville Jaguars (four percent owned)
Jacksonville’s top two receivers in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have largely failed to live up to expectations in 2016 thus far. One reason may be that Lee has taken a noticeable amount of targets from the two aforementioned receivers, and this trend doesn’t appear to be subsiding any time soon. In Week 9 the Jacksonville receiver caught 4 passes for 84 yards, and added 11 yards on one rush in the Jaguars loss to the Chiefs. In addition, Lee may receive additional targets next week as Hurns was taken out of the game multiple times for different injuries (ankle, concussion) in Week 9. Lee should post another solid performance next Week against the Texans, with potential for an even bigger week if Hurns is sidelined.
5. Eli Rogers, Pittsburgh Steelers (one percent owned)
Pittsburgh looked out of sorts all day in Week 9, failing to score at all in the first three quarters of the game. With Sammie Coates, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and Markus Wheaton all dealing with injuries, or sidelined, Rogers looks to be the number two option behind Antonio Brown in a strong offense. The Pittsburgh receiver hauled in six passes for 103 yards in the Steelers loss to the Ravens. Rogers looks to build upon this career-best performance next week against the Cowboys.
