The ninth week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Tight end rankings for Week 10
The waiver wire begins late Tuesday, so it is time to figure out your best options. We’ve got rankings for all four major positions: QB | RB | WR | TE | DST
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!) and news arrives.
Waiver wire tight end rankings, Week 10
1. Lance Kendricks, Los Angeles Rams (15 percent owned)
The Rams tight end is on an upward trajectory, increasing in yardage for the past four weeks straight, and is becoming a consistent presence in the Rams passing offense. Kendricks caught seven passes for 90 yards in the Rams loss to the Panthers in Week 9. The Rams face a Jets defense that is very poor at defending the tight end next week, so look for Kendricks to have another week of strong production.
2. Austin Hooper, Atlanta Falcons (13 percent owned)
Hooper has performed admirably in the absence of Jacob Tamme, who is currently dealing with a shoulder injury. The Falcons tight end caught three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta’s win over Tampa Bay. Hooper is much more athletic than Tamme, and will continue to be a dynamic target in Tamme’s absence. If Tamme continues to miss time Hooper will be an intriguing option at tight end, in a high powered offense.
3. Jared Cook, Green Bay Packers (11 percent owned)
Cook has been recovering from an ankle injury since Week 3, and hasn’t played since. However, he practiced, albeit on a limited basis, this past Thursday and Friday, and looks on track to start in Week 10. Green Bay possesses a strong passing offense, but has underutilized it’s tight ends in the receiving game thus far this season. However, current starting tight end Richard Rodgers does not possess the athleticism or receiving ability that Cook does. Look to stash Cook as he should be a productive receiver in an offense that has been dealing with numerous injuries this season once he hopefully returns next Week.
4. Vance McDonald, San Francisco 49ers (eight percent owned)
Colin Kaepernick looked to be much improved in San Francisco’s loss to the Saints, and a main beneficiary to his improved accuracy and decision making was McDonald. The 49ers tight end caught three passes for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 9. McDonald has received six targets in each of the past two games the 49ers have played, and should continue to receive a healthy amount of targets from Kaepernick every game. If Kaepernick’s play continues to improve, McDonald’s production will follow a similar trend.
5. Will Tye, New York Giants (one percent owned)
Tye received the start over Larry Donnell in Week 9, which may indicate that the Giants have finally begun to realize Tye’s talent. The New York tight end caught 4 passes for 33 yards in the Giants win over Philadelphia. Tye should continue to increase his playing time over Donnell, and should become a bigger contributor to the Giants pass-leaning offense.
