Bills vs. Seahawks 2016 results: Seattle outlasts Buffalo in controversial 31-25 win

That was a heck of a game.

The Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks really gave us a treat on Monday night. After seemingly endless amounts of bad primetime NFL games this season, we had a bunch of different factors that made for arguably the most captivating one yet.

The game started off with a boom for the Bills. After forcing the Seahawks struggling offense to go three-and-out, Jerry Hughes blocked a punt, and that would turn into a Tyrod Taylor three-yard touchdown run to put the Bills up within the first minute and a half.

After the first drive resulting in a blocked punt, we had four consecutive drives of nothing but touchdowns, and no two drives were similar.

The Seahawks fought back with a three play, 58-yard drive in just over a minute. The drive was highlighted by a Russell Wilson deep ball to Doug Baldwin that went for 50 yards. Wilson capped off the drive with a three-yard rush.

Buffalo then went on a marathon of a drive. It lasted 17 plays, and ate up 10 minutes of game time. It was their longest drive by time since 2007. Taylor found Justin Hunter for a five-yard score to cap off the drive to make it a 14-7 game.

Then, Jimmy Graham took over the first half. Graham came down with a touchdown reception for the ages, when he held hands with Bills safety Robert Blanton with one hand, while catching a touchdown with the other.

After a Bills field goal and a Christine Michael touchdown, things got weird at the end of the first half.

It all started when the Bills were lining up for a field goal. Seahawks corner Richard Sherman came off of the edge early for the block, and ran into Bills kicker Dan Carpenter. Sherman was flagged for being offsides, but not for unnecessary roughness.

Because Carpenter received medical attention, he was forced to sit out a play. This forced the Bills to spike the ball to get him back on the field. Because of substitutions, the referee stood over the ball so long that the Bills were flagged for delay of game.

After all of this, the Bills lined up for the field goal, and missed a 54-yard attempt.

The third quarter wasn’t quite as entertaining as the first half. Things did get heated between Richard Sherman, Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan. After an interception, Sherman and Rex were seeing jawing at each other after the play. As it turns out, he had also been talking to Rob earlier in the game.

The Buffalo Bills made a push late in the third and early in the fourth quarter. Another long drive, this time consisting of 13 plays and 82 yards, got the Bills in the end zone in the beginning of the fourth as Mike Gillislee punched it in to make it a 28-25 game in the Seahawks favor.

The Seahawks responded with a 49-yard field goal, and while they seemed to be in good shape, the Bills would not let up trailing 31-25.

After getting the ball back with just under three minutes to go, the Bills put together a heck of a drive. Faced with a 3rd and 21, Taylor avoided four Seahawks defenders, and found Robert Woods, who made an unbelievable catch downfield.

The Bills were able to get set up with a down and goal, and on 3rd and goal from their own 7-yard line, Cliff Avril came up with a vicious sack for the Seahawks.

With a running clock from the 15-yard line, Taylor surveyed the field, but wasn’t able to find Woods, effectively giving the Seahawks the victory.

The win puts the Seahawks at 5-2-1, comfortably over the 3-4-1 Cardinals in the NFC West. The Bills have now lost three in a row, and are third in the AFC East, behind the Patriots and Dolphins, respectively.
