With a concussion keeping fellow Philadelphia running back Darren Sproles out of action this weekend, Mathews is expected to see an increase from his normal 12 touches per game.
Fantasy Impact: Despite the anticipated increase in opportunities, the Eagles’ running back is going to have a hard time producing at a high level against a tough Baltimore Ravens run defense this week.
The Ravens are giving up the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs in 2016. This week’s matchup is also in Baltimore, a place where the Ravens’ defense is only allowing teams to rush for an average of 55 yards per game this season.
Yahoo! has Mathews projected to finish Sunday with 57 total yards on 14 touches. He is a flex option at best against Baltimore, but fantasy owners who choose to leave the running back on their bench this week will not be given any strange looks.
