With the news that Washington will be without the services of its top tight end in Jordan Reed this weekend, the team will be looking to fellow tight end Vernon Davis to step up his play.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 13: Vernon Davis has some big shoes to fill
Washington’s tight end should get a boost in opportunities this week due to the absence of Jordan Reed. We explore the fantasy implications.

In his 11th NFL season, this year with Washington has been Davis’ most productive since 2013 when he was with the San Francisco 49ers. After 11 games this season, Davis has 31 catches for 450 yards and two touchdowns on 37 targets.
Fantasy Impact: As if making up for Reed’s absence was challenging enough this week, Davis will have to go against an Arizona Cardinals defense that has played well against his position group this year.
The Cardinals are giving up the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends in 2016. Arizona has yet to allow any player from the position group to score a touchdown this season and no opposing tight end has finished with more than 55 receiving yards in a game against the Cardinals this year.
Davis has the talent to make up for the loss of Reed, but his matchup on Sunday should cause his fantasy owners to think twice about starting the veteran pass catcher this week.
