Tuesday is the last day of gymnastics competition in the Rio Olympics.
Biles will compete in the women’s floor routine finals after earning the top spot in the qualifier with a score of 15.733. She will compete against teammate Aly Raisman, who had the second-highest score in the qualifier with a 15.275. To illustrate the dominance of Team USA’s women’s gymnastics team, Laurie Hernandez placed fourth in the qualifier, and is not competing in the final due to a rule permitting no more than two gymnasts from one country to participate.
Biles and Hernandez aren’t the only Americans going for medals Tuesday. You won’t want to miss Christian Taylor going for gold in the triple jump. Taylor, the reigning Olympic champion after winning gold in the London Games, took the top spot in the triple jump preliminaries, with a 17.24m. This is well below Taylor’s personal best of 18.21m, which is just shy of Jonathan Edwards’ world record of 18.29m.
The beach volleyball semifinals begin Tuesday for men and women, and Team USA’s duo of Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross will look to continue their dominance in these Games. Walsh Jennings has never lost a match in the Olympics, and she and Ross will look to continue that streak and get one step closer to competing for gold.
