Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is scheduled to start on Friday in the team’s second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, according to Cowboys’ Executive Vice President Steven Jones.
Tony Romo to make preseason debut Friday, good backup option for fantasy owners
The Cowboys’ quarterback is likely to see his first in-game action since Week 12 of the 2015 season. We break down the fantasy implications.

The news came about on Tuesday during Jones’ interview with NBC Sports Radio host Newy Scruggs. Romo is expected to play in at least one series and possibly two on Friday.
This will be the Dallas quarterback’s first game action since Week 12 of the 2015 season against the Carolina Panthers. Romo suffered a fracture in his collarbone in the game and missed the remainder of the season.
Fantasy impact: In 2015, Romo was seen as a legitimate QB1 option for a majority of fantasy owners. Since he only played in four games last year, the Cowboys’ quarterback has seen his ADP falter to the lower rounds in 2016.
Now 36 years old, he could possibly return to be a consistent fantasy option this season. But for now, fantasy owners should look elsewhere for their 2016 starting quarterback.
