New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski continues to get the veteran treatment this preseason. Gronk is not expected to play in this week’s second preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Rob Gronkowski will miss 2nd preseason game but it’s not a fantasy concern
The Patriots are being extra cautious with their star tight end this preaseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gronkowski briefly scared the fantasy world this week when he left Monday’s practice early with an undisclosed injury, but it’s not considered a major concern, and either way head coach Bill Belichick won’t be talking anyway. Gronk is in no danger of missing the regular season opener.
Fantasy impact: Gronk is the best tight end in football and it’s not particularly close. Although he’ll be catching passes from Jimmy Garoppolo instead of Tom Brady for the first four games, Gronk should still dominate in the red zone. The 27-year-old has 65 touchdown catches in 80 games played.
Gronk is so far ahead of the tight end field in fantasy that he’s getting serious consideration in the first round of drafts. We normally don’t recommend drafting a tight end that high, but Gronk is a special talent. Snag him if you get the chance.
