The Denver Broncos will hope to get more clarity on their quarterback situation Saturday, with Trevor Siemian starting the second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. Mark Sanchez started the first game.
Trevor Siemian to start 2nd preseason game, won’t be a fantasy option
The defending champs are still trying to figure our their quarterback situation. We break down the fantasy implications.

Siemian has been surprisingly neck-and-neck with Sanchez in the quarterback competition, with the two splitting first-team reps in training camp. First-round rookie Paxton Lynch appears to be a distant third on the depth chart.
The Broncos made Siemian a seventh-round pick out of Northwestern in 2015. He got thrust into the competition after Peyton Manning retired, Brock Osweiler left in free agency and a trade for Colin Kaepernick failed to materialize.
Fantasy impact: Siemian is practically a mystery box at this point, and him getting first-team consideration probably says more about Sanchez’s career and Lynch’s development curve than anything. Needless to say, Siemian is not a serious option in fantasy drafts and a deep-league stash at best in dynasty leagues.
Look for C.J. Anderson to get a huge workload as the Broncos double down on Gary Kubiak’s run-heavy schemes this year.
