New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis will require a second procedure on his surgically repaired knee, according to Patriots beat writer Jim McBride. The surgery could land Lewis on the reserve/PUP list for New England’s opening six games. This second surgery will not involve the ACL Lewis tore last year on Nov. 8. Patriots insider Tom Curran reports that there will be an 8-10 week recovery time for Lewis while ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he is sidelined indefinitely, but still could return this season.
2nd knee surgery likely to land Dion Lewis on the PUP list, delaying fantasy return
Dion Lewis has apparently had a setback in his recovery from a torn ACL last season that will require a second surgery. We look at the fantasy implications.

Bill Belichick has four other running backs on the roster that have seen major playing time over the last few years, but none of them have the talent Lewis brings to the offense. It should not be that much of a shakeup of the Patriots chemistry since Lewis has not practiced at all this preseason.
Fantasy Spin: James White, LeGarrette Blount, Brandon Bolden and Donald Brown will continue to take the normal reps they have been throughout training camp. Blount has been New England’s short-yardage back for a few years now and led the team in 2015 with six touchdowns on the ground. White is more of a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. He had seven games last season where re recorded four catches or more, including a 13-catch performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
