Paxton Lynch’s chances of starting Week 1 growing by the snap, fantasy owners on alert
Paxton Lynch’s performance shows his potential as a fantasy sleeper or waiver option.

After Lynch completed 15 of 26 passes for 113 yards, two touchdowns and one interception at home against the San Francisco 49ers, Kubiak’s upcoming decision is getting increasingly more difficult. Being the reigning Super Bowl champions only adds a new dimension to this competition. The numbers that Lynch put up are certain to gain some excitement.
Given that his performance was largely against players who are lower on the depth chart, ESPN Broncos beat writer Jeff Legwold is not nearly as quick to rush to a decision. He believes that the best option for Lynch and the Broncos would be to give Lynch additional time to learn and develop. His long-term potential must remain top priority for Kubiak and the Broncos.
Fantasy Potential: Despite impressing against San Francisco’s reserves, Lynch would be better served sitting to start the regular season to further his development. But given the current quarterback situation in Denver, don’t be surprised to see Lynch thrust into a starting role sometime during his rookie season. Fantasy owners should keep Lynch’s name in mind as a potential late-round draft pick or waiver option this season.
