The Denver Broncos are one step closer to sorting out their quarterback competition. On Monday, head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that Trevor Siemian will get the start in Denver’s third preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.
Trevor Siemian starting 3rd preseason, has low fantasy ceiling
The Broncos are giving Siemian a legitimate chance to win the starting job. We break down the fantasy implications.

This is pretty significant news, since the third preseason game is often the most important one of the month. It’s where the starters will play the most reps and coaches use more schemes and plays than they usually show in preseason. Siemien is getting the nod over Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch. After two preseason games, he’s thrown for 163 yards and an interception on 17-of-26 passing.
Fantasy impact: In all likelihood, we’re going to see all three quarterbacks in the game on Saturday. Siemian hasn’t been terribly inspiring, but Mark Sanchez is Mark Sanchez and Lynch is an extremely raw project. The Week 1 starter probably won’t be announced until after preseason wraps up.
In any case, the Broncos figure to be a run-happy team with Kubiak’s zone-blocking scheme, so none of these men are a serious fantasy consideration in 10- or 12-team leagues.
