The fantasy world got a big scare last week when New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski left the practice field with an injury. To nobody’s surprise, the Patriots aren’t talking about the injury and the most info we’ve had to go on has been NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport saying it’s “minor.”
Rob Gronkowski still not practicing, but it’s not time for fantasy owners to panic
As usual, the Patriots are being tight-lipped about the injury to their star tight end. We look at the fantasy implications.

A week later, Gronk still isn’t practicing and didn’t play in the team’s third preseason game this week. If it’s any consolation, ESPN’s Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss says Gronk showed no signs of an obvious injury.
Fantasy impact: We’ll just have to play the wait-and-see game, but preseason is not the time for fantasy owners to panic about their star tight end. The Patriots know better than anyone not to take these games too seriously, so they’ll likely hold him out as long as they can.
Unless Gronk is still not in practice in Week 1, fantasy owners can continue drafting him in the first round of all league formats. He’s a weekly difference-maker and one of the few tight ends worth spending a high pick on.
