The Detroit Lions continue being cautious with tight end Eric Ebron, who was held out of practice yet again on Thursday as he recovers from an ankle injury. He’s not expected to play in Detroit’s third preseason game this weekend.
Eric Ebron still out of practice, remains a fantasy risk
The Lions expect to have Ebron ready for Week 1, but he’ll likely sit out the rest of preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ebron suffered what at first looked like a season-ending ankle injury early in training camp, but he avoided any serious damage. However, he’ll likely miss the rest of the preseason and looks to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.
Ebron has battled multiple injuries in his short NFL career and has yet to play all 16 games so far. He finished with 47 catches for 537 yards and four touchdowns.
Fantasy impact: A first-round pick in 2013, Ebron is a strong candidate to make a third-year leap, and there are no shortage of targets to go around in the wake of Calvin Johnson’s retirement. But he has to get on the field and stay healthy first, and needs to show more consistency than we’ve seen from him so far. Ebron is a boom-or-bust fantasy option worth gambling on in the later rounds of 12-team drafts.
