After a training camp derailed by a lingering hamstring injury, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is back in practice and ready to make his preseason debut against the Seattle Seahawks Thursday night.
Ezekiel Elliott making preseason debut amid some fantasy concerns
The Cowboys’ first-round pick will get his first preseason action on Thursday, but his training camp has been less than stellar. We look at the fantasy implications.

Elliott has been getting massive hype since the Cowboys made him the No. 4 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, but he’s had some problems in camp. According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, Elliott showed up at camp at 231 pounds, around five pounds heavier than his Combine weight. He tried to work it out before injuring his hamstring, sidelining him for a couple weeks.
Right now, the plan is for Elliott to only get around 12 snaps or so on Thursday, as the Cowboys ease him into live game action.
Fantasy impact: Elliott has all the upside in the world as the Cowboys’ top workhorse back, but it would be nice to see him on the field. Right now, his ADP is hovering around the late first round, which is way too aggressive a price for a player with zero NFL carries. Elliott is one of the most high-risk, high-reward investments in this year’s fantasy draft class.
