Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews returned to practice on Monday, his first session since suffering a strained knee a couple weeks ago. Matthews is on track to be ready for the Eagles’ Week 1 opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Jordan Matthews back at practice and should be a mid-level fantasy asset
Matthews’ knee injury is only a minor issue and he should be ready for Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Matthews picked up a bone bruise on his knee during a practice session in early August, costing him the entire preseason (presumably, he will not play in Thursday’s preseason finale).
Fantasy impact: The Eagles have been cautious in bringing Matthews back, with one of the thinnest receiver groups in the league. Matthews was a disappointment in his second season, but still came away with 85 catches for 997 yards and eight touchdowns.
With Nelson Agholor flopping in the preseason and Dorial Green-Beckham still new to the team, Matthews is the closest thing Sam Bradford has to a reliable weapon. That’s a scary proposition, but he’ll have almost no competition for targets. Volume alone should carry Matthews to WR3 value (and perhaps more in PPR leagues), but he’s just a middle-round pick in fantasy drafts. Try not to overpay for him.
