Quarterback Carson Wentz’s NFL career hasn’t gotten off to the best start. Despite being drafted No. 2 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, the rookie quarterback suffered a hairline rib fracture in his first preseason game. Wentz attempted to come back in time to play the preseason finale, but his ribs still aren’t fully healed and he has since confirmed that he will be sitting out Thursday’s game.
Carson Wentz will miss final preseason game, has zero fantasy value in 2016
The No. 2 overall pick’s ribs couldn’t heal in time for him to see any preseason action this week. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Eagles drafted Wentz out of North Dakota State looking for their franchise quarterback of the future, but he’s a raw project who is unlikely to play much, if at all, in 2016. Sam Bradford is entrenched as the Week 1 starter, with Chase Daniel being his direct backup. Wentz is now a distant third on the depth chart.
Fantasy impact: With almost zero preseason reps to speak of, Wentz is already behind on his NFL developmental curve. He was always a long shot to make a fantasy impact in his rookie year, but Wentz is now completely off the radar, outside of being a roster stash in dynasty leagues. It wouldn’t be surprising if he spent most of the season as a game day inactive.
