The Denver Broncos’ quarterback battle is settled, but their first-round rookie will get one more chance to make an impression. Head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday that Paxton Lynch will start and play the entire preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.
Paxton Lynch starting 4th preseason game, has minimal fantasy value
The Broncos will let their first-round rookie play the entire preseason finale. We look at the fantasy implications.

The Broncos drafted Lynch in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, but he quickly fell behind on the depth chart, starting camp third behind Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian. Siemian ended up winning the starting job, while Sanchez could be released or traded sometime this week. That puts Lynch in the driver’s seat to be the No. 2 quarterback in the regular season.
Fantasy impact: Lynch hasn’t had a memorable preseason so far. In the third game, he completed just 6 of 13 passes for 57 yards against the Los Angeles Rams. Still, with Sanchez likely out the door, Lynch has a prime opportunity to win the main backup job.
He won’t have any fantasy value right away, but Lynch is a good bench stash in dynasty leagues. Keep him on waiver wire watch lists in case Siemian stumbles out of the gate.
